1. How is DBMarlin installed?
DBMarlin is deployed as software installed on the monitored database server (or a separate monitoring server); monitoring can be started within minutes by entering the database connection details through the setup wizard.
2. What do I need to set up DBMarlin?
You just need a read-only user account with access to the database you want to monitor (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and a server (Linux or Windows) to install DBMarlin on; no additional agent is required on your database server.
3. I've never heard of DBMarlin before — what does it do?
DBMarlin is a database performance monitoring tool that shows you the root cause of slowdowns in your database — wait times, SQL queries, resource usage — giving a clear answer to whether the problem is the database or the application.
4. How do you help during the setup process?
We work with you through the whole process — from setting up the database connection to tuning monitoring thresholds for your environment and interpreting your first performance reports.
5. Does DBMarlin affect database performance?
DBMarlin collects data using read-only queries without running an agent on the database server, so its impact on performance is minimal.
